Touchplan Live Crew Size View-1

Touchplan recently released a highly anticipated new feature—the live crew size view. This allows users to get an accurate, real-time crew count by role at any time.

This latest release enables users to immediately see how plan changes affect staffing needs both in the short-term plan and across the entire project. A key advantage of this update is the visual element of the information. Labor curves display as stacked bars at the top of the tool and show how staffing changes over time. The goal is to keep these bars as level as possible, since a consistent headcount minimizes the time, cost and effort of assembling teams. Decreasing this type of disruption allows users to staff projects more efficiently and get back to their work faster.

By strategically allocating resources based on new information, teams can avoid understaffing, which can cause delays and eat into a project’s budget. The live crew size view helps project planners identify planned days that may have more people scheduled to work than are actually available, enabling a rethinking of the planned work well before the problem manifests itself on the job site.

“We hear from GC and trade partner teams that they really like this feature because they can easily see the impact of shifting resources, live. They don’t need to be hyper-aware of everything going on or keep track of it in their heads. They also don’t have to run reports just to see what might change if they adjust headcount on a certain activity,” says Carly Griffin, Customer Success Associate at Touchplan. “It’s eye-opening for them because before when you would create your plan and assign staff and schedule all the activities and then have to make a change, everything would shift and it was easy for things to fall through the cracks. This new feature catches these issues automatically and shows their impact in real time.”
