Boston Children’s Hospital, the world’s leading pediatric hospital, constructed a new $1 billion state-of-the-art clinical building on its Longwood Medical Area campus. The 16-story building, which has four floors below grade, will expand the hospital’s bed capacity by 71, from 401 beds to 472 total. The building also allows for the expansion of Boston Children’s cardiovascular program and the establishment of a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with individual patient rooms to support privacy.
The new clinical building employs the most up-to-date, specialized technologies to care for Boston Children’s most complex patients. A rooftop healing garden was constructed at the top of the building, replacing the former Prouty Garden.
