Client Stories: Touchplan Delivers Visibility & Alignment on Residential Build

The Aspire Gulch project, which began in March 2020 and wrapped up in August 2022, encompassed 360 apartment units spread over 10 stories and covered 620,000 square feet. Initially, the team relied on Excel spreadsheets to manage planning and PPC reports, a process that was both time-consuming and lacked visibility. After transitioning to Touchplan, they saw immediate improvements in transparency and project coordination. Team members could log in to view real-time progress and track project plans, making it a valuable investment for both the project and corporate teams.

Early in the project, the team encountered utility conflicts and faced delays in receiving RFI responses from ownership. Rather than allowing the project to stall, Touchplan enabled the team to pivot quickly by re-sequencing tasks and keeping the project on schedule without requiring costly adjustments from the owners. The ability to duplicate pool plans in Touchplan further saved time, eliminating the need to recreate sessions for repeated activities.

Safety coordination was also enhanced with Touchplan, as the platform allowed for detailed planning of logistics, helping the team prevent trades from working over one another and ensuring safe working zones on site. Looking ahead, the team plans to incorporate Touchplan into all future projects, using it to track manpower, simplify processes, and maintain an accurate historical record of project data.

Here’s how Touchplan improved project success:

  • Real-time tracking of plans and progress for improved visibility.
  • Flexibility in re-sequencing tasks to avoid delays and keep the project on schedule.
  • Time savings through the ability to duplicate plans for similar activities.
  • Enhanced safety coordination by mapping out logistics and creating exclusion zones.
  • Improved processes for managing manpower and maintaining historical data.
